At Xavio Design, we have the privilege of working with clients on a number of truly amazing projects that inspire and delight. We love transforming the ordinary into the extra-ordinary, creating exquisite lighting for our discerning clientele.
Light, the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible, can help create beautiful pieces of art, where light is the brush and everything it touches the canvas.
James Turrell, the American artist whose life focus was on light and space said:
“Light is not so much something that reveals, as it is itself the revelation.”
When working on a range of diverse projects, whether on super prime residential, private jets or super yachts, we see art in light.
The very nature of light gives it the power to create, wherever it shines.
Only recently, we were working on a project that involved the use of our Xavio Boutique – Ritratto Picture Light, that again reminded us of how powerful light can be.
The photo below inspired us all at Xavio Design, taken by one of our team.
The setting was an old rustic barn set in rural England. Simply an empty frame, illuminated by the Ritratto Picture Light. It was certainly impactful.
Art is described as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
When looking at the the beauty of the frame illuminated by the Ritratto picture light, you see the stark contrast of the old worn corrugated iron, wooden beam, sets of differing textures, light and dark shades.
In its most natural state, it is an empty picture frame where the subject appears to be the frame itself. It poses the question, is this image an example of art in light? Do you even need a subject inside the frame?
When you do put a subject inside the frame, it is more representative of what you would expect from art and is also impactful. Lighting then brings the whole piece to life.
We love both images, for different reasons. The empty frame setting is natural, original, organic and gets you thinking. The enhanced image is powerful, colourful, with striking contrasts. Both very different images, but equally impactful.
Understanding the power and range of light is an art, and we love working with all of our clients to create stunning and bespoke lighting designs across many diverse projects.
